As thoughts turn toward warm summer days and lazy south swells, a well-loved surfboard, bar of wax, and favorite swimsuit are all you need, It’s such a great time to be a surfer—young, old, shortboard, longboard, ripper, cruiser—we’re digging the ride anything mentality that’s increasingly turning the world’s lineups from exclusive to inclusive.

As currently on display by the independent swimwear brands below, there is also the freedom to wear whatever you like on the beach and in the lineup. Whether you’re into one-pieces, cheeky styles, vintage cuts or wetsuits, there are suit styles for virtually anyone. In this seventh annual feature, we once again celebrate the women swimwear designers who have created styles that are both eye-catching and functional, while maintaining environmentally responsible manufacturing and business practices.
